Paus Benediktus XVI telah menetapkan Tahun Iman[Year of Faith] yang akan berlangsung dari 11 Oktober 2012 s.d 24 November 2013 yang dimaksudkan untuk mengingat karunia berharga dari iman dan interpretasinya yang benar.
Pada 4 Oktober kemarin, Paus melakukan ziarah sehari ke Marian shrine of Loreto di Italia untuk mempercayakan Tahun Iman kepada Bunda Perawan Maria.
Paus juga memberikan indulgensi penuh yang dapat diperoleh setiap hari secara pribadi untuk diri sendiri atau jiwa di Purgatory selama Tahun Iman.
Dikatakan ada 4 cara untuk mendapatkan indulgensi(sorry, malas menterjemahkan) :
1.
| Quote: | | attending at least three sermons “during the Holy Missions” or reading at least three lessons from the documents of the Second Vatican Council or the Catechism of the Catholic Church. |
2.
| Quote: | | making a pilgrimage to a basilica, catacomb, cathedral, or location designated by the local bishop for the Year of Faith, and either participating there in a sacred celebration, praying or meditating. The act of prayer should finish with an Our Father, a recitation of the Creed and a prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary. |
3.
| Quote: | | participating in Mass or the Liturgy of the Hours on a day chosen by the local ordinary, and reciting the Creed. |
4.
| Quote: | | people can visit their place of baptism and renew their baptismal promises there. |
Syarat untuk mendapatkan indulgensi penuh:
| Quote: | | A plenary indulgence also requires that the individual be in the state of grace, have complete detachment from sin, and pray for the Pope's intentions. The person must also sacramentally confess their sins and receive Communion up to about 20 days before or after completing the other acts. |
Pesan Paus untuk Tahun Iman ketika ziarah kemarin:

Pesan Bishop David L. Ricken, The leader of the U.S. bishops' evangelization committee, tentang Tahun Iman :
| Quote: | The Year of Faith offers an opportunity for a renewal of faith and evangelization for the whole Church.
The upcoming year is intended to “strengthen the faith of Catholics and draw the world to faith by their example.”
“The Year of Faith is meant to promote the personal encounter with Jesus. This occurs most immediately in the Eucharist.”
Regular Mass attendance can strengthen one’s faith “through the Scriptures, the Creed, other prayers, sacred music, the homily, receiving Communion and being part of a faith community.”
“Confession urges people to turn back to God, express sorrow for falling short and open their lives to the power of God’s healing grace,” he said. “It forgives the injuries of the past and provides strength for the future.” |
Selain itu Bishop David L. Ricken juga menganjurkan umat Katolik untuk:

| Quote: | | to learn about the saints, whose witness offers us hope and teaches us how to live as Christians. These holy men and women were sinners who continually strove to grow in their relationship with God, he said, and they give us an example of service through ministry, charity, prayer and everyday life. |

| Quote: | | to read the Bible every day during the Year of Faith in order to “become more attuned to the Word of God” and to study the Catechism to deepen their understanding of the Church’s “beliefs, moral teachings, prayer and sacraments.” |

| Quote: | Finally, Bishop Ricken encouraged Catholics to work in their daily lives to adhere to the Beatitudes, which offer an example of virtue and “a rich blueprint for Christian living.”
“It’s precisely the example of lived faith needed to draw people to the Church in the year ahead,” he said. |
